A day of intriguing encounters and practical challenges, that will see over 30 employers offering workshops based on the Science, Maths, Technology and Engineering industries, designed for Years 8 and 9.

Maggie Philbin, TeenTech founder and Tomorrow’s World presenter, is coming to Kent to host this prestigious event which won the ‘Best Engineering Event’ during National Science and Engineering Week 2010 and the South East winner for ‘Enterprising Britain 2010’ award.

West Kent Skillsfest 2012 FINISHED

Nearly 2000 students aged 14-19 from across West Kent will be attending EBP Kent’s West Kent Skills Festival 2012.This exciting event will be taking place at the River Centre in Tonbridge on the 10th October. Schools from across the area are preparing their young people to make the most of the interaction with exhibitors who will be offering a wealth of information on career paths and contributing to the general raising of aspirations.

The consortium of West Kent Schools and the K College in close partnership with EBP Kent, have developed this event in partnership to inspire young people of the area as they plan their future during these uncertain times. This significant event is about positive progression decisions for young people to understand the wealth of opportunity available.

The response from employers in West Kent has been phenomenal and companies from a wide range of sectors will be providing interactive activities to showcase and inform students of the opportunities and progression available. Olympic & Paralympic Celebration Day
@ Quex Park
28th June 2012

Thanet schools are invited to attend a day of Olympic and Paralympic themed workshops at Quex Park on the 28th June 2012. Both the Year 5 and Year 7 of each Thanet school will be allocated timed slots during the morning and afternoon of the event, with both coming together for a picnic lunch to be taken on the grounds of Quex Park in Birchington.

Choirs and bands from across Thanet schools will provide singing and music during the lunch hour and a new world record will be attempted by having the most number of young people singing ‘Altogether Now’ in one attempt. An aerial photo will also be taken to mark this historic event.

Engineering Challenge - Power Generation FINISHED

EBP Kent is delighted to be working with Cummins Power Generation, Kent University's School of Physical Sciences and Vattenfall on a unique and scintillating challenge sponsored by Kent County Council.

With the Olympic and Paralympic Games just around the corner, engineers have decided to take the opportunity to offer your school the chance to compete in powering the Olympic community.

Ethical decisions will be made on the distribution of power but, more importantly, your students will be offered the chance to work with engineers in generating it! This four day challenge will culminate with a grand final at Cummins Power Generation where your team will compete against other Kent schools.

There is no charge for your school to take part. Places are offered on a first come, first served basis.

Coca-Cola Education Centre Visit FINISHED

EBP Kent is delighted to be working with Coca Cola UK, supporting their offer to host this one day industrial experience placement for teachers of Design Technology, Science, Engineering, Information Communications Technology and all aspects of Business Studies. The visit will include a tour, contact with departmental specialists and lunch. Please find attached schedule and information documents.

Special Choices returns for its fourth year at the Rare Breeds Centre on the 17th May 2012. Specifically designed for Kent’s LLDD students, EBP Kent invites schools and parents to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.
Interactive workshops developed by employers and colleges will demonstrate the kind of employment options available in the future to LLDD students within various sectors – from animal farming to administration.
All learning activities are planned with our partners and appropriately prepared for the needs of the students. Teachers and students alike will be able to update their knowledge and awareness of the career pathways available to young people.

Kent Marine Festival 2012 FINISHED

EBP Kent is proud, for the fifth year running, to be the organisers of the Kent Marine Festival 2012. The Kent Marine Festival is an interactive skills event with a wealth of employers showcasing the diversity of career opportunities within the Marine and Maritime sectors.

Young people attending the Kent Marine Festival will have an opportunity to engage with hands-on activities and workshops. It is designed to influence the decisions young people make in their school and personal lives to better prepare them for the world of work.
