Olympic/Paralympic Celebration Day – Quex Park
Delivered in partnership with The
Ursuline College, a day of epic proportions took place at Quex Park
in Birchington-on-Sea, with over 2000 students from schools across
Thanet coming together to celebrate the coming Olympics/Paralympic
Games.
Organisations from across Kent, provided students with a cornucopia
of workshops, that swamped Quex in a glittering array of colour
and fevered excitement. Whether the students were decorating an
Olympic Box with carefully crafted designs, paintballing, competing
in volleyball or learning the art of Chinese calligraphy (to name
a few of the workshops!!), no stone was left unturned in ensuring
that there was, at the very least, something for everyone.
A world record attempt took place during the lunch hour as well
as performances from local singers that kept everyone thoroughly
entertained as they refueled for the next bout of energetic workshops!
An incredible day that emphasized the power of partnership between
industry and education, ensuring the legacy of the impending Games
remains etched in the hearts and minds of Thanet’s schoolchildren
for years to come. |
